260 people gathered at the Marriott Washingtonian Center to Toast the Life and Service of former Montgomery County Executive Sid Kramer on Tuesday night April 28^th.   The annual Jubilee Toast/Roast is the major fund raising event for Jubilee and over $90,000 in gross revenue was collected through sponsorships, ticket sales, donations and ads to the Program.

            In a video created for the event staff member Carolyn Seegers talked about the evolution of services in the field as she experienced them and how she came to Jubilee.  Graciela Sanz talked about her experience as a parent and as a board member.  Sid Kramer talked about the important work that Jubilee does.  He talked about his service to the community and how important his wife and family have been to him throughout his career.

            Current Montgomery County Executive Ike Leggett talked about how Sid had been a mentor to him.  Ike said that some of the advice he received he used and sometime he decided to not follow Sid’s advice.  Lanny Davis recalled how he and Sid were invited to be part of a legislative study group made up of County leaders, but turned out to be a poker group.  Ben Kramer, Sid’s son, related several family stories that had the audience laughing to the point of tears.  Ben also assured the audience that there were no bitter feelings following his loss in the recent County Council election.  Finally, former Rostee, and current State Delegate Sheila Hixson commended Sid Kramer on this leadership as a State Senator.

            The audience was filled with current and former elected officials included former Governor Marvin Mandel, four current State Senators and five former State Senators,  nine State Delegates, and four members of the County Council.

            In all it was fun evening, with good food, good company and a true public servant being honored for a good cause.
