Despite difficult financial times the Jubilee Community came together to pull off another grand Employee Awards cookout and ceremony.  Earnings from the Charles E. Johnson employee recognition fund were nonexistent in 2009 so it appeared there was no funding for the awards this year.  The Johnson family and both Boards of Directors and other donors rallied to raise about $6,000 so that cash awards along with certificates could be given out.

            At the cook-out, Adde Johnson’s grandson John Middleton shared a few memories of his grandfather, Charles E. Johnson, and Delegate Ana Sol Gutierrez added words of gratitude for the awardees.  Board Presidents Larry Smucker and Maite Ballestero were present to congratulate all of the winners.

            Jane Ssemanda won the Family Partnership Award.  Bill Easter, Patricia Robin, Wilma Hunter and Anglenette Dickens all won awards for Exceptional Performance.  Vicky Geiger and Janeice Green won the values award.  All received an award certificate and a check for $500.   Team Dream won the Self Determination award and the Unity Team won the Community, Mutuality and Service Awards. These teams split $1,000 among their members. For the first time this year there was a Service Coordination Award which went to Cecillia Hamilton.
