DDA News: Rental Subsidy Program Announced and Budget Increase

Maryland’s Developmental Disabilities Administration (DDA) recently announced a new rental subsidy program, where people pay only 30 percent of their household income for rent and utilities. Unlike other DDA rental assistance programs, this program is similar to the Housing Choice Voucher Program. It is tenant-based, so people who participate are free to move with the voucher to any qualifying home or apartment of their choice. This new DDA program presents an opportunity to increase housing choice and independence for the people we support. There are eligibility requirements and an application process for this program. Jubilee’s Housing Manager Francess Issa fissa@jubileemd.org is available to discuss this program, and help you assess if it is right for you or your loved one.

Your advocacy makes a difference! Governor Hogan just released an additional 4% rate increase ($57M) for DDA community services in his supplemental budget. This will bring the total increase to 8% beginning July 1, 2022. This increase translates into over-due pay increases for DSPs and service provider staff statewide. Thank you for your advocacy!
