Engage in the Community

June Activities Include SPIRIT CLUB Field Day and Downtown DC Dinner

By Steve Keener, Jubilee Executive Director

Being together at Jubilee’s first picnic of the summer really drove home how important it is to get out of the house and reengage with the wider community. These past two years have been lonely and frightening. It is time to heal. It is time to get back out there! We know how to do this safely now with outdoor gatherings and masks when indoors.

I challenge you: if you are supported by Jubilee, what do you want to do? Where do you want to go? Who do you want to spend time with? Jubilee will help you make it happen.

If you are a direct support professional, there is almost nothing more important in your work than helping the people you support get out of the house and connect with people.

I hope to see you at our next community picnic, and I’m highlighting here just three of the many activities we are offering this month that I think you will enjoy. Please visit our events calendar and find the activity that is right for you.

  • Spirit Club Field Day – Thursday, June 9 from 11 AM to 1 PM. Have fun with yoga, cardio kick-boxing, field day games and kickball. Open to all staff and everyone supported by Jubilee. Register here by June 2 so we can get a headcount for lunch.
  • Dinner on the Water – June 11 from 6-8 PM. We’re heading downtown to Washington, D.C. for a fun night out at The Point restaurant. Register by June 3rd by emailing Njglover@jubileemd.org.
  • Exercise Sampler  – June 25 from 10:30 to 12:30. Come try out different exercise classes at this event just for Jubilee by Spirit Club. Light refreshments will be served, no RSVP necessary.

P.S. Stay up to date on our activities by signing up to receive text message reminders about Jubilee events by texting JUBILEE to 888-403-4314.
